Getting to Know Bob
It
was the spring of 1955 in a peaceful New England town, Taunton,
Massachusetts.
Well, peaceful except for early Saturday afternoons when I would
hear the drone of model airplane motors coming from our local airport.
Like many other boys, I was drawn to the sound and the site of all
the beautiful real and scale model airplanes. That was the beginning
of what proved to be a very successful and rewarding career for
me.
I
remember when I joined the first modeling club, the “Taunton
Balsa Buzzards”. I have been an avid model builder ever since.
Building planes, cars, boats, anything in miniature.
During
my working career, I worked as in several jewelry companies, responsible
for model making and received formal training at The Rhode Island
School of Design.
After
a tour in the USAF, I worked for The General Dynamics Company as
a Lofts man responsible for designing and model making on ships
and submarines.
In
1980, my wife Edie and I formed, RAMCO LTD (my name's initials)
and produced model airplanes and model accessories on an international
level. After selling the business in 1994, Edie and I started “Bargainin
Bobs Barn” and now in 2012, “Bob's
Hobby Museum”, expanding to include a large variety of
Quality Items and Custom Model Making for our customers.
